First Time Visitor? Start HERE!

Let’s get the basic stuff out of the way so we can move on to the interesting material.

1) My name, if you haven’t pieced together from the title of this site, is Luke Florence.

2) Oldest son of John and Maxine. Oldest brother to Josh.

3) Born and raised in Tiffin, Ohio, which is famous for ……….. NFL wide receiver Nate Washington?? Wikipedia didn’t give me much to work with. Apparently Washington Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden was born in Tiffin, but I doubt that actually happened.

4) Graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 2004 and Ohio University in 2008 where I received a B.S in News Writing from the prestigious E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.  Seneca + Bobcat = Me.

5) Sports is life. Teams I’m stuck rooting for from here on out are: The Cleveland Browns and Indians (thanks for nothing Dad), Chicago Bulls, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

6) I’m getting married in April in Charleston, S.C. She’s settling and I’m out-kicking my coverage. But that’s how it should be.

Basics over. Commence “interesting” material.

“Celebrating the five year anniversary of you asking me that question.”

The above quote was my go-to response when someone would ask what I wanted to be doing in five years. The truth is, I never really knew. I guess I still don’t. Baz Luhrmann told me in “Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen)” that the most interesting people never do.  So I got that going for me, which is nice.

There are a plethora of things that I do enjoy. Like reading. Writing. Movies and TV Shows (but only good ones). Brady Quinn. Roller coasters. Cool Runnings. My dog Lucy. Euchre. Street magic. Sleeping in.

Unfortunately, none of those aforementioned items have made me any money, ever. Apparently sleeping in is not a viable career move. Thanks for nothing Obama!!

Back when I was merely a Bobkittie in Athens, Ohio I started a blog called The King of Arguments. The title originated from all the arguing that took place between myself and my roommate, TV’s Matt Barnes. Of course he wasn’t TV’s Matt Barnes back in 2005. Then he was simply, Please Buy Me Dr. Pepper’s Matt Barnes.

We would constantly talk/argue/yell about a variety of subjects, so when it came time to input something in the “Title” section of my first blog, The King of Arguments seemed like a no-brainer.

Posts were infrequent and completely random. The two biggest projects that actually were finished on the KOA were my 40 favorite athletes and my 100 favorite films. Michael Jordan and Cool Runnings topped each respective list. The blog was the beginning. But it was never going to be anything more than that.

With my 30th birthday knocking on the door, I ditched the “King of Arguments” moniker and created this site.  Before I launched, I wanted to make sure I actually had content, so I spent the first two months designing and creating actual content.

Expect to see plenty of lists, as I have three to unveil from the onset.

1) 100 Favorite Movies
2) 50 Favorite TV Shows
3) 50 Favorite Sporting Figures

Ultimately I would love to write for a living. I want this site to act as a catalyst for my writing. Like anything, practice makes perfect.

I do know that this site needs to accomplish two things to be successful.

1) Content, content, and more content. There were lots of great ideas on the KOA blog, but only a small handful were ever completed. In order for this site to be different, the content has to be bountiful.

2) You, the constant reader. Maybe you found this on Facebook/Twitter. Maybe you’re a family member. Maybe a friend. Or, maybe a stalker. The point is this site would be nothing without your presence. So thank you. Seriously, thank you.

In fact, if you have made it this far and haven’t passed out from boredom, I’m going to reward you for your time. Here’s the deal.

If you like this page on Facebook and follow me on wordpress I will handwrite you a thank-you note. Yes, a good ole-fashioned hand-written note that’ll take you back to your Junior High days. Maybe it’s just me, but I do enjoy receiving mail that isn’t a bill.

Like, follow, and shoot me an email (Florence.Luke@gmail.com) with your address, that’s it. Again, thank-you.

Well after that shameless pleading for likes and follows, it’s time to close this ‘About’ page. Please feel free to read, comment to your hearts content, and send me your thoughts/ideas (guess I’m not done pleading for things).

My favorite line from my favorite movie is “Peace Be The Journey.” It’s how I will end every post.

Too often in life we get caught up in destinations that we fail to get any enjoyment out of the process. And that’s all life is really, one long journey. It’s full of failures, heart-break and occasional moments of ecstasy.

“Peace be the journey.”
